OEM Linking Pin: 2015 Ford F-150 NVH Foam

As part of the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) OEM linking pin activity, we are helping to connect the collision repair industry to the vehicle makers. Recently, we had a technical inquiry that asked for clarification on noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) foam replacement on a fender.

In the 2015-2020 F-150 Workshop manual, the fender removal procedure specifies to remove the foam sealant from between the fender and body. The procedure for installation, however, does not specify replacement of the foam sealant, or what product to use.

We reached out to Ford for clarification on replacement of the foam sealant. Per our contact: “A flexible foam filler such as anti-flutter foam can be used with the carrier to seal the area. Trim as necessary to match original appearance. Same process can be used for other Ford vehicles that have carrier foam.”
