We are often asked, “What do I do if there isn’t a procedure to replace a service part?” Let’s see what Toyota/Lexus says.
Toyota/Lexus Collision Repair Information Bulletins (CRIBs) contain a lot of information vital to the proper repair of Toyota/Lexus vehicles.
Toyota/Lexus CRIB #155 states: “In the case where an OE weld-on service component is available, but installation specifications are not published, install the component at OE seams with Squeeze-Type Resistant Spot and/or Gas Metal Arc /Metal Inert Gas Welding methods.”
If no procedure exists, Toyota/Lexus allows you to replace the service part at factory seams following their general guidelines. Always reference the vehicle-specific body repair manuals before performing any repairs.
