OEM Linking Pin: 2018 Honda CR-V Trunk Sectioning

As part of the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) OEM linking pin activity, we are helping to connect the collision repair industry to the vehicle makers. Recently we had a technical inquiry that asked for clarification on the trunk floor sectioning procedure on a 2018 Honda CR-V.

The procedure illustration shows sliding the new panel under and then plug welding. The procedure does not reference the use of adhesives, which brought up the question: what is to be done with the joint seam? We reached out to Honda, and per our contact: "body seam sealer should be applied to both sides (top and bottom) of the lap welded joint."
