I-CAR ADAS Diagnostics - When The Calibration Fails Course

The I-CAR ADAS Diagnostics – When The Calibration Fails course covers advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and focuses in on the inputs used in common systems. It details how the inputs communicate with the systems, how to diagnose ADAS issues, and what to do if a system will not calibrate.

The course identifies and follows a systematic problem-solving approach to diagnose ADAS issues. The five steps are:

  • Define the problem
  • Know the system
  • Find the cause
  • Make the repair
  • Test the system

The course discusses vehicle sensors and provides an overview of how four of the most common ADAS sensor types work using engaging animations and videos. These include:

  • Ultrasonic
  • Radar
  • Camera
  • LiDAR

Information is provided on how to investigate and diagnose ADAS failure point root causes using:

  • Visual inspection
  • DTC diagnosis
  • Symptom charts

Understanding ADAS inputs and communication networks, and how to diagnose and repair them, is essential to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
