Sectioning and Partial Part Replacement: 2017 Lincoln MKZ

One of the top technical inquiries received at Ask I-CAR, “Is there a sectioning or partial replacement procedure available?” To help answer this question, RTS has an OEM Partial Part Replacement Search available. Here you will find information on if these procedures are available on a specific vehicle. Let’s take a closer look at the 2017 Lincoln MKZ.

The full OEM Partial Part Replacement Search page for the 2017 Lincoln MKZ can be viewed on the I-CAR website. This will give you a good understanding on general areas for sectioning or partial replacement. I-CAR does not have permission to show exact locations for sectioning or the procedure itself. However, Lincoln has a paid subscription website with collision repair information.

The Lincoln MKZ has multiple sectioning locations for the front lower rail. The rail is installed using an open butt joint. There are multiple partial replacement procedures for the upper rail, including both an inner and outer replacement. The rear rail has a single sectioning procedure that is completed with an open butt joint.

Multiple sectioning procedures are available for the outer uniside. Sectioning procedures include outer A-pillar, outer B-pillar, outer quarter panel, and more. Lincoln recommends using a butt joint with backing to create a stronger joint. The trunk floor has a sectioning procedure available also. This procedure calls for a lap joint for replacement.
