I-CAR Squeeze-Type Resistance Spot Welding Manual Settings Course

There is a growing number of OEM vehicle makers requiring manual settings for squeeze-type resistance spot welding (STRSW) operations. With this in mind, I-CAR has released a course that has an interactive simulator based on popular STRSW equipment.

The manual setting requirement is often used for replacing ultra-high strength steel (UHSS) parts. This course provides the student with knowledge on:

  • Why manual settings are used?
  • Determine correct welder tip shape and size.
  • How to enter parameters into popular STRSW equipment?

Instructions and video will demonstrate the step-by-step process to entering manual settings on the following equipment:

  • Pro-Spot i4S
  • GYSPOT Evolution PTI
  • CAR-O-Liner CTR9

The course has videos with I-CAR subject matter experts (SME) showing the process of manually entering settings for each specific welder. This course also features an interactive simulation test of each welder. The student will need to navigate the interface of each welder to input the proper manual settings.

Always follow OEM welding requirements, including destructive testing to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
