OEM Linking Pin: Genesis Defines Surrounding Parts

As part of the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) OEM linking pin activity, we are helping to connect the collision repair industry to the vehicle makers. We’ve had a technical inquiry that asked for clarification of "surrounding parts" in a statement related to the calibration of Genesis advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) components.

Per the 2019-2025 Genesis G70 service manual, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) Radar (sensor behind the front bumper cover/grill), Front Radar Installation Angle/Adjustment Overview procedure:

"The FCA radar sensor alignment is required when:

  • The radar sensor or the surrounding parts have been impacted by a collision."

We reached out to our contact at Genesis for clarification.

Per our contact at Genesis: "'Surrounding parts' refer to anything directly in front of the radar unit or where the radar unit mounts onto. This includes the grille, front license plate bracket, front bumper, and front bumper beam.

This applies to all Genesis vehicles.

There is no specific measurement of how close/far the damaged parts have to be. In general, if the mounting position of the front radar unit has been affected or the parts directly in front of the radar unit have been damaged/replaced, it is best to perform the recalibration procedure."
