Repairer Driven News: Audi e-tron 12-Volt Battery Cautions

Repairer Driven News (RDN) released an article on the Audi e-tron and the importance of the 12-volt battery and the roles it plays.

The article emphasizes that the 12-volt battery is essential in getting the high-voltage (HV) battery "up to voltage". The 12-volt, low-voltage (LV) battery is what powers multiple controllers, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and other systems on the vehicle.

Disconnecting the battery without following the proper procedures will trigger diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and make re-energizing the HV battery more difficult.

The article also warns about heat, such as from the bake cycle in a paint booth. It cautions not only on the maximum temperature but also the time exposed to high temperatures.
