Locating OEM-Approved ADAS Tools: Honda/Acura - UPDATE

When researching calibration procedures for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), you may notice that many of the procedures require the use of specific tools. Some tools may be everyday items like string, tape, levels, paper, etc. However, many of them are OEM-specific tools or scan tools. Often identifying and locating where to purchase these specific tools can be difficult.

The RTS team is researching how to find these tools to make it easier for technicians performing these procedures. As we research the location of these special tools, we are compiling the information in a series of OEM-specific articles. Let’s see where you can find Honda/Acura-approved tool information.

Diagnostic tool information and requirements can be found on the techinfo.honda.com website. On the login screen, click on the links in the Diagnostic Tools box in the bottom right-hand corner of the page. These links provide information about PC requirements for the i-HDS software, and much more.

On the same login page, click on the Tool & Equipment Programs – Online Catalogs (Honda) (Acura) link on the left side of the page. Select either Honda or Acura to go to the online catalog. Once the catalog page loads, you can find tools by using the search bar in the middle of the page, or by clicking Equipment Catalog at the top of the page to search by category.

The following Job Aids for Honda Getting Started Using Electronic Target Positioning Systems and for Acura Getting Started Using Electronic Target Positioning Systems specify OEM-approved aftermarket ADAS targets and tools and what cameras or sensors the tools and targets can calibrate.

Always follow OEM procedures when calibrating ADAS. Make sure to check procedures for the required tools to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
