OEM Linking Pin: 2018-2023 GMC Terrain Quarter Panel Sectioning Location

As part of the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) OEM linking pin activity, we are helping to connect the collision repair industry to the vehicle makers. Recently, we had a technical inquiry that asked where to section the quarter panel behind the B-pillar in the rocker panel area on a 2021 GMC Terrain. We reached out to GM for clarification.

Per our contact at GM: "The 320 mm measurement (removal) is how far rearward the vehicle can be sectioned and the 43 mm measurement (installation) is how far forward the service part can be sectioned. The sectioning joint can be placed anywhere within this range provided a 25 mm overlap is used.

The manual will be updated to show a shaded area that shows a range of where the sectioning location can happen. The measurements in the manual currently shows the minimum and maximum range as long as a 25 mm overlap is used."
