Locating OEM-Approved HV Tools: Rivian

When researching procedures for disabling a high-voltage (HV) vehicle, you may notice that many of the procedures require the use of specific tools. Some of them are OEM-specific tools or scan tools. Often identifying and locating where to purchase these specific tools can be difficult.

The RTS team is researching how to find these tools to make it easier for technicians performing these tasks. As we research the location of these special tools, we are compiling the information in a series of OEM-specific articles.

Tools and equipment needed are identified in vehicle-specific service manuals. Rivian HV tools can be found using the following steps:

  1. Go to business.rivian.com
  2. Enter email and password
  3. Click Submit
  4. Click Rivian Special Tools (bottom right of webpage)
  5. Click Open next to Tools Catalog
  6. Enter a part number in the Search textbox (top of webpage)
  7. Click the magnifying glass icon to search

You can also go to rivianservicetools.com to access the tools catalog without accessing the paid website. Rivian discloses special tools needed at the beginning of the procedure.

The use of a scan tool and DVOM is required when performing the HV disabling procedure on a Rivian vehicle.

Always follow OEM procedures when repairing HV vehicles. Make sure to check procedures for the required tools and procedures to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
