Calibration Research Tips: Mazda Park Assist System

While searching for information on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on an OEM repair information site, you may come across unique calibration procedures or events. These events can vary by year and model, even within a particular make. As the RTS team has been researching these systems, we have been identifying these atypical circumstances. In order to help you better understand them, we are putting together a series of articles that help with the repair and calibration of ADAS. Let’s take a look at the Mazda park assist system.

Mazda ADAS information is relatively easy to find on the service site. Systems are typically listed under i-ACTIVSENSE and Mazda even goes so far as to provide a chart that outlines vehicle-specific ADAS. However, the park assist system information is typically found in the Instrumentation and Driver info area of the Workshop manual.

Once you are logged into Mazda’s paid subscription website:

  • Click on Electronic Service Information (upper left-hand side of webpage)
  • Click on Open Electronic Service Information (middle of the webpage)
  • Click on View Content (upper right-hand side of webpage)
  • Enter the VIN or click Select Model
  • Click Go (upper right-hand side of webpage) to open the list of publications
  • Expand the Workshop Manuals category list (left-hand side of webpage)
  • Expand Body and Accessories
  • Expand Instrumentation/Driver Info

Here you will find information on component location and removal and installation procedures. In addition, Mazda typically provides information on inspection as well.

DTC information for the park assist system is also located in the Workshop manual, but in a slightly different location. Park assist system DTC information can be found under: Workshop manuals ➤ Body and accessories ➤ On-Board Diagnostics ➤ Parking Assist Unit (Ultrasonic).

It is important to always follow OEM procedures for repairs and calibration. Finding this information quickly and efficiently contributes to a complete, safe, and quality repair.
