Ford And Lincoln Restraints Wiring: UPDATE

The question is often asked, "Can supplemental restraints system wiring be repaired?" The answer is: it depends on the vehicle maker. Let's take a look at Ford's and Lincoln's position on this subject.

Per the Wiring and Connector Repair Procedures document: "Restraint terminals are not to be repaired/replaced with individual pins/terminals. The terminals are sonic welded to the wire and molded into the connector"

"Ford no longer requires replacement of the affected harness if a restraint connector requires service. Wiring Pigtail Kits designed specifically for the deployable components of the restraint harness should be used."

The Wiring and Connector Repair Procedures document is in the Wiring tab on the Ford service site.
