Rivian Steering System Overview And Servicing Guideline
The steering system is considered one of the most important and necessary systems on a vehicle. After all, without steering, the driver couldn’t control the vehicle. This makes it important to know what the OEM recommends when it comes to this system. Let’s take a look at what Rivian has to say.
Rivian has made available their Steering System Overview And Servicing Guideline documents on the Rivian Service Guidelines page. This document provides step-by-stepprocedures for properly inspecting the complete steering system after an accident where suspected impact or damage has occurred.
Rivian states:
- "Deployment of steering wheel airbag requires replacement of the steering column, clockspring, and steering wheel."
- "Always perform a 4-wheel alignment, ADAS calibrations, and steering angle sensor reset after component replacement."
- "Always use new fasteners when replacing steering, brake, and suspension components."
This document provides inspection points, possible conditions, and recommended actions for each steering component and possible condition type.
Always follow vehicle-specific OEM repair information, especially when servicing or replacing steering system parts.
