Calibration Research Tips: Mazda Simultaneous Front Radar Calibration

While searching for information on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on an OEM repair information site, you may come across unique calibration procedures or events. These events can vary by year and model, even within a particular make. As the RTS team has been researching these systems, we have been identifying these atypical circumstances. In order to help you better understand them, we are putting together a series of articles that help with the repair and calibration of ADAS. Let’s take a closer look at Mazda’s simultaneous radar sensor calibration procedure.

Some Mazda vehicles are equipped with both a Front Radar Sensor (sensor behind front bumper cover/grille) and Front Side Radar Sensors (sensors behind front bumper cover/grille (sides)).

In those vehicle-specific service manuals, there is a combined calibration procedure for all three radar sensors behind the front bumper cover/grille instead of performing individual procedures for the front and front side radar sensors. This is indicated by a note found in the individual calibration procedures.

For example, per the 2025 Mazda CX-30 Workshop Manuals ➤ i-ACTIVSENSE ➤ i-ACTIVSENSE Component Part ➤ Front Radar Sensor Aiming: "Front radar sensor and front side radar sensor aiming can be performed at the same time by driving the vehicle once. For the operation procedure, refer to [FRONT AND FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR SIMULTANEOUS AIMING]."

It is important to always follow OEM procedures for repairs and calibration. Finding this information quickly and efficiently will contribute to a complete, safe, and quality repair.
