Where Do I Find Other Types Of Information In General Motors?

Navigating OEM websites can be challenging when searching for collision repair procedures, especially as no two OEM websites are alike. What happens when you need to find other types of repair information, such as, "What needs to be inspected after a supplemental restraints system (SRS) deployment?", or "Does the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) require a scan tool or specialty tool?" Let's take a closer look at the General Motors (GM) website.

Go to the GM website at www.acdelcotds.com. If you haven’t already, you will need to register for a username and password and then purchase a subscription.

After logging in, you will have the option of either entering the VIN or the year, make, and model. Upon clicking Next, you will want to click on the correct vehicle hyperlink beneath Service Manual/Bulletins. This will open a new screen. From this screen you have two options:

    • For example, entering “SRS” into the search window will provide a variety of results for you to read through (see Figure 1).
    • General Motors category searchFigure 2
  2. Choosing from the Select a Service Category Type list (see Figure 2). Selecting an item from this comprehensive list will reveal additional sub-categories for you to search through. These sub-categories allow you to narrow down the information, depending on your repair needs.

Knowing where and how to find repair procedures is key to ensuring a complete, safe, and quality repair.
