Great Designs in Steel 2018 Presentations: A Closer Look - 2019 Chevrolet Silverado

In case you missed it, Jeff Sulik, Engineering Group Manager and Joy Geeraerts, Senior Design Release Engineer from General Motors Company presented The All-New 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Structure Review at Great Designs in Steel 2018.

Once again, weight reduction and improved body construction were key takeaways for the all-new 2019 Silverado. Increased usage of high strength steels and aluminum sees an average vehicle weight reduction of 449 pounds.

A major change from the prior year models is the front structure going from bolted on to welded. This change also contributed to the vehicles overall weight reduction due the utilization of stamped parts. The change is also key for improved corrosion protection.
