Volkswagen Restraints Wiring: UPDATE

The question is often asked, "Can supplemental restraints system wiring be repaired?" The answer is: it depends on the vehicle maker. Let's take a look at Volkswagen's position on this subject.

Per the Volkswagen position statement, Supplemental Restraint System Wiring Harnesses Applicable To All Volkswagen Models: "Do NOT attempt to repair the SRS wiring system or related components on any Volkswagen vehicle unless otherwise stated in VWoA repair procedures. Replace any damaged or bent SRS components with Genuine Volkswagen Parts."

Refer to the Electrical Equipment General Information document for more detailed information on SRS wiring repairs.

For information on Volkswagen replacement and inspection items after a restraints deployment, go to the OEM Restraints System Part Replacement Search

Other Volkswagen Position Statements are available on the Volkswagen OEM Information page.
