I-CAR Repairers Realm: Paint Color Matching Challenges - Now Available

I-CAR had a discussion on the challenges of paint color matching.

In May’s episode of Repairers Realm, our subject matter experts discussed paint color matching challenges with insights from paint manufacturer representatives. We explored the causes behind these challenges and discovered effective solutions, including how to use a spectrophotometer to help accurately match color.

Questions answered in this episode include:

  • How do we get a color match for the base layer on tri-coat?
  • Can a spectrophotometer be used on plastic parts?
  • After taking the spectrophotometer reading, do we still need to do a spray-out panel?
  • Can clearcoat change the paint color?
