Great Designs In Steel 2025 Presentations Release

Great Designs in Steel (GDIS) 2025 covered multiple topics, many of which were presented by OEM engineers and tier 1 suppliers of body components.

2025 GDIS featured three presentations on body-in-white and vehicle structure, along with other topics, such as:

  • Reinforcement consolidation with higher-strength steel
  • Side structure and electric vehicle battery
  • Crash management
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) use in vehicle development

The presentation on using AI for material selection during vehicle design shows how AI can streamline developing and testing new steels. Instead of creating and testing 15 different materials, AI can predict how the top 5 will perform, and then those top 5 can be physically tested. This eliminates the need to test all 15 materials physically, which can be used to develop changes to vehicle design at an even faster pace than it is today.

The full list of available presentations from GDIS 2025 have been released and can be viewed on the American Iron And Steel website for GDIS.
