Let’s take a closer look at the 2017 Acura TLX.

I-CAR does not have permission to show exact locations for sectioning or the procedure itself. However, Acura has a paid subscription website with collision repair information.
The TLX offers a single partial replacement procedure for the front lower rail. In this procedure the rail is replaced in front of the cowl. The upper rail and the rear rail has multiple replacement locations at factory seams.
The TLX has a 1,500 MPa reinforcement in the front door opening, which Acura refers to as the outer stiffener ring. This part includes the A-pillar, B-pillar, and everything in-between, along with a portion in the rear door opening. There is no sectioning allowed anywhere on the outer stiffener ring. If damaged, the full outer stiffener ring must be replaced. This is done with a combination of spot welding and MIG brazing. There is also an outer quarter panel sectioning procedure, and a trunk floor sectioning procedure.
