Metal Panel Bonding on General Motor’s Vehicles
General Motors (GM) has updated their Metal Panel Bonding technical document on their gmparts website. Let’s take a look at this document.
Per the GM Metal Panel Bonding technical document “Panel bonding of steel is only recommended when the panel is originally bonded to the vehicle.” They do not recommend the use of adhesives to section panels. GM goes on to explain that there are differences between impact resistant adhesive, and other bonding adhesives. It states that they cannot be substituted for one another. They also provide a list of adhesives that meet GM’s performance requirements.
