GM Has Video Procedures

Looking for more information about a specific repair procedure? Some OEMs are now providing videos within the repair procedures on their service site. Vehicle makers may also have additional websites that contain repair videos. As we research OEM websites and find these helpful videos, we will write articles to let you know. Let’s take a closer look at General Motors (GM).

Videos can be found on the GM paid subscription site. It is important to note that not all service manuals or procedures have videos. There are multiple locations in the service manual where you may find videos.

The first being within the Bulletins, Campaigns, and Preliminary Information area of the service manual. These videos show real life representations of issues that are described in the service bulletins for added clarity.

Another location you typically find videos is within the Collision Repair area of the manual. Most of the videos in this area of the manual show the sectioning of a vehicle component and how to cut on a die mark. There may even a few videos within the Bolted Exterior Body Panels and Closures area of the service manual. Again, it is not guaranteed that all vehicles or procedures on the GM paid subscription site will have video explanations within them.

Although videos can be extremely helpful, they are not intended to replace the written procedures. They are there to serve as a guide. Being diligent with reading and following OEM procedures is vital to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
