OEM Linking Pin: Ford/Lincoln Outer Uniside Panel Repair - UPDATE

As part of the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) OEM linking pin activity, we are helping to connect the collision repair industry to the vehicle makers. We‘ve had technical inquiries that asked for clarification on repairing cosmetic/exterior aluminum panels on Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

We reached out to our contact at Ford for clarification on whether a crack/tear in an aluminum cosmetic/exterior panel can be repaired. Per our contact at Ford: "A cracked/torn cosmetic/exterior aluminum panel can be repaired on any of the aluminum vehicles model year 2015 to present. Examples of exterior/cosmetic panels include outer unisides, fenders, doors, hoods, roofs, and outer box sides."
