Locating OEM-Approved HV Tools: Audi

When researching procedures for disabling a high-voltage (HV) vehicle, you may notice that many of the procedures require the use of specific tools. Some of them are OEM-specific tools or scan tools. Often identifying and locating where to purchase these specific tools can be difficult.

The RTS team is researching how to find these tools to make it easier for technicians performing these tasks. As we research the location of these special tools, we are compiling the information in a series of OEM-specific articles.

Specialty tools for repairing Audi HV vehicles can be found on the www.tools.audiusa.com website. Once you are on the website:

  1. Click Online Catalog (menu on left-side of webpage)
  2. Click High Voltage Vehicle from menu
  3. Click any of the categories under High Voltage Vehicle

This part of the equipment catalog provided battery lifting kits, high-voltage test adapters, personal protection equipment, and much more.

When disabling Audi HV systems, the use of a "Vehicle Diagnostic Tester" (scan tool), and an HV or Hybrid Test Adapter are typically used. Any tools needed for disabling the high-voltage system will be specified in the disable procedure and can be found in the Audi online tool catalog.

Always follow OEM procedures when repairing HV vehicles. Make sure to check procedures for the required tools and procedures to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
