We are often asked, “What do I do if there isn’t a procedure to replace a service part?” Let’s take a look at each vehicle maker and see what they say.
In many Audi body repair manuals, the General, Technical Data, Repair Information area states: "Only select labor operations are described in this repair manual. The following applies for labor operations that are not described: Separate the original joint and re-create it with the replacement part."
Audi specifies what the "original joint" refers to and details the attachment methods available for installing the service part in Body Repair, Body Collision Repair:
- Body Repair General Information
- Thermal Joining Techniques
- Cold Joining Procedures
If no procedure exists, Audi allows you to replace the service part at factory seams following their general guidelines. Always reference the vehicle-specific body repair manuals before performing any repairs.
