Back-To-Basics: Adjacent Panel Protection

Sometimes going back-to-basics can make the difference between a quality repair and a failed repair. You never want a blend panel to become a repair panel. A magnetic panel edge tool can help guarantee that it never happens again.

It’s easy to nick the adjacent panel while finishing out the repair with your DA. Usually some duct tape or gaffers tape can prevent this, but those can leave sticky residue and may come with other problems.

With a magnetic panel edge protector, place it on the adjacent panel and remove it when you’re finished without extra cleanup. The magnets are inside plastic casings in a strip with relief notches placed between each magnet allowing you to flex the strip to fit the panel. The thick plastic is more difficult to cut through than a piece of tape and is infinitely reusable.

Any of these options can save you a lot of frustration. Pick your favorite method and make it a habit.
