Sectioning and Partial Part Replacement: 2017 Chevrolet Impala

One of the top technical inquiries received at Ask I-CAR, “Is there a sectioning or partial replacement procedure available?” To help answer this question, RTS has an OEM Partial Part Replacement Search available. Here you will find information on if these procedures are available on a specific vehicle. Let’s take a closer look at the 2017 Chevrolet Impala.

The full OEM Partial Part Replacement Search page for the 2017 Chevrolet Impala can be veiwed on the I-CAR website. This will give you a good understanding on general areas for sectioning or partial replacement. I-CAR does not have permission to show exact locations for sectioning or the procedure itself.

The Impala has no sectioning procedures for the front lower, rear, or upper rail. They do however have partial replacement at factory seams for the three rails, the front lower rail and upper both having more than one location. Chevrolet allows sectioning in a single location for the trunk floor. The trunk floor will overlap the part of the remaining trunk floor, and is attached using two rows of plug welds.

The outer uniside has sectioning procedures for the outer A-pillar, B-pillar, quarter panel, and rocker panels. The sectioning joints should allow for a one inch overlap. There are multiple sectioning locations for the inner uniside. Also available is a partial replacement at factory seams for the A-pillar reinforcement.
