Jaguar Land Rover Glass Replacement Requirements

The role of the windshield is a lot more complex than simply allowing a view of the road ahead. It is considered a structural part of the vehicle as it contributes to the strength of the roof and A-pillars. The windshield helps to manage collision energy and has become an integral part of several advanced safety systems.

It is commonly asked, "What is required when replacing a windshield?" With this question in mind, we will be presenting a series of articles that highlight some of the requirements from the various OEMs. As always, it is important to read through each vehicle-specific procedure to ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.

Let’s see what Jaguar Land Rover has to say for the 2016-2019 model years.

  • Jaguar Land Rover does not identify a specific brand of pinchweld primer, but per images in manual, primer may be included in the kit.
  • Jaguar Land Rover suggests the use of non-smearing glass cleaner such as Dow Betaclean 3300.
  • Jaguar Land Rover also suggests abrasive windshield contamination remover such as Dow Betabrade F1 or similar.
  • Jaguar Land Rover recommends the use of their Windshield service kit LR078295.
  • It is important to stay within the same product line for the primer and adhesive.
  • Be sure to refer to the urethane manufacturer’s directions for curing time specifications, and do not use adhesive after its expiration date.
  • Jaguar Land Rover specifies the use of a WK2S blade with WK11DW5 controller arm with the glass roof procedure.

As a special note on Jaguar vehicles that are equipped with auto high beam assist (AHBA), the rear view mirror cover caps are designed for one use only and will need to be replaced.

Models equipped with a camera near the rearview mirror (Image Processing Module’A’ IMPA) must be calibrated when a windshield is replaced.
