I-CAR General Motors Company (GMC) Hummer Electric Vehicle (EV) Course

With the release of the Hummer EV, I-CAR has developed a course that overviews several features on the vehicle as well as repairability.

The course goes into detail about the HV system with the following topics:

  • High-voltage (HV) system and components
  • HV shutdown procedures
  • Charging information
  • Safety precautions
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

The vehicle construction materials are outlined in the course, showing the different strengths of steel parts as well as aluminum parts. The course explains the different joining methods used on the Hummer EV, like:

  • Weld bonding
  • Rivet bonding
  • Plug welds
  • Impact resistant (IR) adhesive

Repairability of certain parts is also given. The course talks about possible sectioning and partial part replacement procedures for certain parts and talks about the use of heat to repair the vehicle.

You will also learn about the Hummer EV:

  • Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and calibration
  • Supplemental inflatable restraints (SIR)
  • Steering and suspension
  • Cooling and A/C system

Understanding what the vehicle is equipped with and what the vehicle is made of is important when it comes to performing repairs. Always follow OEM procedures to ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
