We often receive the Ask I-CAR inquiry: "Does Audi have a position statement on pre- and post-repair system scanning? Do they plan on coming out with one?"
Audi does not have a position statement regarding pre- and post-repair scanning. Audi has a document titled Safety Precautions And Repair Information that provides information on pre- and post-repair scans, among other inspections, precautions, and information.
The Vehicles Involved In Collisions, Evaluating, Basic Principles area of the Safety Precautions And Repair Information document states:
- "Check the DTC memory entries using the Vehicle diagnostic tester."
- "If a DTC memory entry has been set, then it must be processed."
- "After the repair, check the respective systems for DTC memory entries again."
To locate the Safety Precautions and Repair Information document, log in to the Audi subscription-based website.
- Enter vehicle (tabs in center of webpage)
- option 1: Click Vehicle Identification and enter VIN
- option 2: Click Guided Search and enter Year and Model
- Select Repair Manual from Category 1 dropdown
- Select Chassis from Category 2 dropdown
- Click Search
Audi also specifies when a scan tool is needed within the procedures of the body repair manual.
