Quickly Identifying Outer Quarter Panels w/Rolled Hem Flanges

The I-CAR best practice article, Recycled Outer Quarter Panels w/Rolled Hem Flanges has gotten a lot of interest from the collision repair industry. It’s important to know which vehicles are constructed with a quarter panel rolled hem flange. The RTS Team is working to help you quickly identify if the vehicle you are repairing is constructed with a rolled hem flange. Starting with 2015 model year, when you check out the OEM Partial Part Replacement Search to find if procedures exist, you can see if the vehicle has a rolled hem flange.

DESCRIPTION FOR SEOFigure 2 - Where text for rolled hem flange is displayed. When you look at the red “Outer Uniside” box, for the vehicle you searched, you will see a note at the bottom. This note can have three different phrases depending on if the vehicle has a rolled hem flange or not. If the vehicle is equipped with a rolled hem flange it will say, “Has outer quarter panel w/rolled hem flange.” If there is no rolled hem flange it will read, “Does NOT have outer quarter panel w/rolled hem flange.” The last option is for vehicle that have not yet been verified if they do or do not have a rolled hem flange. Vehicles that are unknown will read, “We have not identified if vehicle has outer quarter panel w/rolled hem flange.” We will continue to identify vehicles with rolled hem flanges and update as we identify them.
