Back-To-Basics: Labeling Materials

Sometimes going back-to-basics can make the difference between a quality repair and a failed repair. There are a few important points to keep in mind when using and labeling materials during the repair process.

Labeling materials in the shop can be very important when it comes to the refinishing process. Different cleaning solutions are used for substrates like metal and plastic, for example. If containers are not labeled properly, the wrong cleaner can be used.

Solvent cleaners for example, should not be used on plastics as it may absorb into the substrate and create major refinishing defects. There are many materials that look the same but can have a huge effect on the refinishing process.

Always make sure to label materials that are being used, as well as not being used for a complete, safe, and quality repair.
