Repairer Driven News: Rear Seat Reminder Technology Continues To Grow

Systems that can remind the drivers that they may have a child or pet in the back seat of the vehicle have been around since 2016. Since the original systems have been introduced, more OEMs have been following suit in an effort to eliminate children and pets being left in hot vehicles.

An article by Repairer Driven News (RDN) talks about the technology and some of the differences in how these systems work. Some systems record door openings and then remind the driver that there may be someone in the back seat after the ignition is turned off. Others utilize the horn to get the driver’s attention if they left the vehicle and never opened the back doors before their departure. One system even utilizes a sensor to detect movement in the back of the vehicle and can notify the driver via a smartphone app if something is moving in the vehicle.
