Locating ADAS Information: Toyota/Lexus

As a collision repair technician, there is one part of a service manual that houses all of the information you would ever need…right? But, that is not the case with modern vehicles. You may be required to look in numerous manuals to find the information required to safely repair the vehicle.

The Repairability Technical Support Portal (RTS) has videos posted to show you how to navigate specific OEM Body Repair Manuals (BRMs). However, this sometimes just gets you in the door. If you are looking for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) information in the BRM, you may not find any information at all. ADAS information is not normally located in the body repair manual. You may have to go into the service manual to find ADAS or a separate manual altogether. Luckily, the RTS team has already navigated most of the OEM repair manuals and we've found the ADAS information. Let's see where to find ADAS information from Toyota/Lexus.

In order to find the ADAS information, you must first follow the Step-By-Step: Accessing Toyota And Lexus Repair Information video to access the TIS website. However, instead of Collision Repair (CR) tab go into the Repair Manual (RM) tab. (for more information on using these tabs click here) Once you are in the repair manual there are three main areas that ADAS information will be found:

  • Audio/Visual/Telematics > Park Assist/Monitoring. This will give you the information on all park assist systems, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic, 360° camera system, and night vision if available.
  • Engine/Hybrid System. > Cruise Control This is where information on system like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and collision braking/warning systems can be found.
  • Vehicle Interior > Pre-Collision Depending on available equipment, collision braking/warning may be housed in this location.
