Calibration Research Tips: Mitsubishi Rear View Camera Setting

While searching for information on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on an OEM repair information site, you may come across unique calibration procedures or events. These events can vary by year and model, even within a particular make. As the RTS team has been researching these systems, we have been identifying these atypical circumstances. In order to help you better understand them, we are putting together a series of articles that help with the repair and calibration of ADAS. Let’s take a closer look at Mitsubishi rear view camera setting.

Mitsubishi typically does not have a calibration procedure for the rear view camera, however, there is a camera setting available. The Camera Setting procedure is used to align the parking guide lines that overlay the camera image. This information is not provided with the camera removal and installation instructions, but is located in a different area of the manual.

It is important to note that not all vehicles have this procedure listed in the service manual. For the ones that do, the information is typically located in the 54A-Chassis Electrical area of the manual. However, depending on the specific year and model, the information will be found in slightly different locations within 54A.

Service Mode is the document that contains the camera setting information and procedure, and can typically be found using one of these two paths by clicking on:

1. Service Information
2. 54-A Chassis Electrical
3. MMCS
4. Service Mode

or

1. Service Information
2. 54-A Chassis Electrical
3. Radio and CD Player
4. Diagnosis
5. Service Mode

Though the camera setting is not required after any particular event such as camera removal or replacement, this does not mean that there won’t be an occasion when the parking lines may need to be adjusted.

The procedure does not involve the use of a scan tool as the adjusting is done through the infotainment screen. In addition, no specialty tools or targets are required. Mitsubishi states everyday items such as tape or string are all that is required for marking lines on the floor.

Sometimes there are settings that need to be adjusted that are not technically calibrations but are still important to be completed. Finding this information quickly and efficiently contributes to a complete, safe, and quality repair.
