Hyundai and Genesis released position statements about the use of heat. Let’s take a look at the position statements.

As part of the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) OEM linking pin activity, we are helping to connect the collision repair industry to the vehicle makers. We’ve had technical inquiries that asked about the use of heat during the straightening of structural parts. Hyundai and Genesis have released a position statement based on the OEM linking pin questions from the industry.

The use of heat on Hyundai and Genesis vehicles has not been disclosed previously in the body repair manuals (BRM) but is now available in a position statement. They provide information on where heat can be used, materials that can be cold straightened, and materials that require replacement after being heated.
