What should you do when a damaged Lucid comes into your repair facility? Do you measure it? Can it be straightened? What needs to be replaced?
The Lucid Mandatory Digital Structural Measuring For Lucid Vehicles position statement specifies structural damage as “any deformation, crack, or separation that affects the alignment or integrity of the vehicle body or safety systems.” Key Structural, ADAS, And Crash Safety System Mounting, on page two of the document, highlights the areas.
The position statement goes on to state, “Take measurements before (pre-measurement) and after (post-measurement) every repair to validate:
- Pre - The original damaged structure has been modified by an impact that has caused more than 3 mm positional distortion which requires the part to be replaced.”
Lucid also provides a list of approved digital measurement systems. Always be sure to reference the vehicle-specific body repair manuals before performing any repairs.
