Spray-In Bedliner Repair Considerations

We are often asked, “Can a spray-in bedliner be repaired?” Let’s take a look at some repair options and considerations.

Most spray-in bedliners are add-ons, and vehicle makers usually do not have repair information available. In these cases, technicians need to reference product maker information for repair methods.

FCA Stellantis has a Bed Liner Repair document in the Standard Procedures area of the body repair manual. The document details two repair methods: dual-cartridge gun repair and spray-on repair.

General Motors (GM) has a Spray-In Pickup Box Bed Liner Repair document in the Bolted Exterior Body Panels And Closures area of the service information. The document details a method for small repairs. For larger repairs, GM provides a link and/or phone number to contact for an authorized dealer network facility.

There are many considerations when deciding how to repair a spray-in bedliner, including:

Texture matching
Matching gloss level
Material thickness
Preparation requirements such as sanding, priming, etc.
Application method
Color match, if applicable

Always check vehicle maker service information for any specifications, requirements, and procedures related to bedliner procedures.
