In many Volkswagen body repair manuals, the General, Technical Data area states: "Only select labor operations are described in this repair manual. For labor operations not described: separate the original joint and recreate it with the replacement part."
Volkswagen specifies what the “original joint” refers to and details the attachment methods available for installing the service part.
If no procedure exists, Volkswagen allows you to replace the service part at factory seams following their general guidelines. Always reference the vehicle-specific body repair manuals before performing any repairs.
