Calibration Research Tips: Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL)

While searching for information on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on an OEM repair information site, you may come across unique calibration procedures or events. These events can vary by year and model, even within a particular make. As the RTS team has been researching these systems, we have been identifying these atypical circumstances. In order to help you better understand them, we are putting together a series of articles that help with the repair and calibration of ADAS. Let’s take a closer look at the FCA/Stellantis Driver Assistance category in the Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) service manual.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) has a Driver Assistance category in the service information. This category can be found on to the stellantisiop.com website. Once logged on to the service website:

  1. Choose a year, model, and engine (across the top of webpage)
  2. Click on Service Information
  3. Click on Electrical
  4. Click on Driver Assistance

The Driver Assistance category contains some of the following sub-categories, depending on the vehicle:

  • Standard Driver Assistance System, Advanced Driver Assistance System, Trailer Assistance System
    • Description and operations of ADAS are found here. By clicking on each system name, you are given a detailed description of what the system does and its operating conditions.
  • Diagnosis and Testing
    • This area gives diagnosis information on certain systems. You may find descriptions of warning messages and malfunction indicator lights that are displayed in the vehicle when there is a malfunction in the system. You can also find brief instructions on how to diagnose the system.
  • Programming and Calibration
    • Here you can find programming and calibration procedures for certain ADAS components. There are also calibration events given, and videos to assist in these procedures.
  • Technical Specifications
    • In this area you will find torque specifications for ADAS modules.
  • Assistance System Components
    • This category gives a list of removal and installation procedures for cameras, displays, modules, sensors, and switches. Within these procedures, is a hyperlink to the calibration procedure, if calibration is required.

Although this information is in one central location, other areas of the service manual should be searched for addition information on ADAS.

It is important to always follow OEM procedures for repairs and calibration. Finding this information quickly and efficiently contributes to a complete, safe, and quality repair.
