Calibration Research Tips: GM Calibration Requirement Information

While searching for information on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on an OEM repair information site, you may come across unique calibration procedures or events. These events can vary by year and model, even within a particular make. As the RTS team has been researching these systems, we have been identifying these atypical circumstances. In order to help you better understand them, we are putting together a series of articles that will help with the repair and calibration of ADAS. Let’s take a closer look at General Motors (GM) calibration requirement information.

GM provides ADAS calibration information in vehicle-specific service manuals and it is typically located in the same place. Usually, if programming or calibration is required, there is a link for Control Module References in the specific repair procedure.

This link takes you to a page that houses information on all GM control modules, including ADAS cameras and sensors. When you choose a module, a new page will open that will provide not only the events that will require a calibration to be performed, but a link to the calibration procedure as well.

Although the information is all there, it does require a bit of digging to find. Did you know that GM has made finding this information even easier? It is true! GM has compiled all of the ADAS information into one easy to read document. The Driver Assistance Systems Configuration Reference (Document ID # 5577683), can be found on the GM Genuine Parts website or by clicking on the link above.

Using this easy to read document is a great place to start when looking for GM ADAS information. However, it is important to remember to always refer to the service manual for the most up to date and vehicle-specific information to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
