OEM Linking Pin: Nissan/INFINITI Non-SRS Wiring Repairs

As part of the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) initiative's OEM linking pin activity, we are helping to connect the collision repair industry to the vehicle makers. Recently we have had several technical inquiries asking about non-SRS wiring repairs on Nissan and INFINITI vehicles. We reached out to Nissan/INFINITI for clarification.

Our contact shared that there is a Nissan/INFINITI Harness Repair Guide available. The guide provides connector inspection guidelines, which aid in repair vs. replace decisions. It is important to pay attention to the various notes, precautions, and cautions throughout the manual. For example, under the Aluminum Wiring section: “CAUTION: Crimp Repair Only! Do not use solder. Use J-48817-8 crimping tool only. CAUTION: Aluminum is susceptible to cross contamination. Do not use the crimping pliers on copper components.”

We were also asked if there was a limitation on the number of splices. Per our contact at Nissan/INFINITI, “For non-SRS harness we do not limit the number of wire splices.”
