Even One Degree Can Cause ADAS Failure

An article by Collision Repair Mag, from October 19, 2017, brings to light an IIHS study that proves that there is no margin for error when it comes to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Calibration is important, but if the parts that are being used are not manufactured correctly, the ADAS can be affected. Let’s take a look at how ADAS can be affected.

The study shows that a replacement windshield on a Honda that has a misaligned camera mounting bracket, of as little as 1°, can cause problems with the ADAS. The study showed that the collision braking system was delayed and the lane departure warning was giving bad readings, with the windshield mounted camera bracket being 1° off from factory.
