Have You Ever Had A Vehicle With A Damaged Cowl?

A cowl may also be referred to as a firewall or dash panel. It is common for cowls to be multi-piece parts. Typically, if the part is sold by the vehicle maker, it can be replaced as supplied. A cowl may have one or multiple layers of sheet metal. When this type of part is replaced, make sure to maintain the same panel layering as the original part.

When replacing a cowl, it may also be necessary to transfer the VIN plate to the new part. Check with your department of motor vehicles and/or state police to see what is required for VIN plate transferring, or if the vehicle would require a change to the title because of the repair. Also check for any other specific VIN handling procedures specific to your state.
