DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

WARNING
Service or maintenance of any SRS component or SRS-related component must be performed only at an authorized MITSUBISHI dealer.

1. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" (OFF) position
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and tape the terminal.
3. Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the battery cable before doing any further work.

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

After the air bag deployment, replace the air bag module with a new one:

WHEN FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOY IN A COLLISION:

• Front impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• SRS-ECU [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Driver airbag module [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL], if deployed
• Passenger airbag module [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL], if deployed
• Knee air bag module [AIRBAG,KNEE BOLSTER], if deployed
• Seat belt with pre-tensioner [SEATBELT,FRONT], After operating the seat belt pre-tensioner, replace the seat belt pre-tensioner with a new part
• Instrument panel assembly
• Slide adjuster (RH) [FRAME,FRONT SEAT] (includes tracks)

WHEN SIDE AND CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOY IN A COLLISION:

• SRS-ECU [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Side impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Front seatback [AIRBAG & SEAT BACK ASSY], if deployed
• Slide adjuster (RH) [FRAME,FRONT SEAT] (includes tracks)
• Curtain air bag modules [AIRBAG,ROOF], if deployed

If the SRS components are showing any visible damage such as dents, cracks, or deformation, replace them with new ones

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

• Perform SRS-ECU memory check
• Check the SRS components. If the SRS components are showing any visible damage such as dents, cracks, or deformation, replace them with new ones
• When removing and installing the front passenger seat belt, be sure to carry out accuracy check of the occupant classification sensor after the seat has been installed in the vehicle

WHEN FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOY IN A COLLISION:

• Clock spring
• Seat slide sensor
• Seat belt switch
• Steering wheel, steering column shaft assembly
• Occupant classification ECU and weight sensor
• Wiring harness (including the one built into the steering wheel), connectors and terminals.
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Seat belts and seat belt mounting points

WHEN SIDE AND CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOY IN A COLLISION:

• Wiring harnesses, connectors and terminals
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Seat belts and seat belt mounting points
• If the SRS components are showing any visible damage such as dents, cracks, or deformation, replace them with new ones
