DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

The pyrotechnic components may be checked only when they are installed and with a VW approved vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system.

1) The battery ground cable must be disconnected with the ignition SWITCHED ON. Then cover the negative pole.
2) Wait for 10 seconds after disconnecting the battery

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

Airbag Units, Removing and Installing After an Accident:

• All deployed airbag units
• Supports and bracket for passenger airbag module with a deployed passenger airbag.
• Return ring with slip ring [CLOCK SPRING], if driver airbag deployed
• All seat belts with triggered belt tensioners
• If needed (visual inspection), the following must also be replaced: all faulty SRS components


PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

Test the system with a suitable vehicle tester.

Passenger Occupant Detection System:
• Each time passenger airbag and/or belt pretensioner on passenger side is deployed, Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module -J706• basic setting must be performed.
• If the seat rails and/or the seat pan must be replaced after a accident due to deformation, the seat occupied recognition must also be replaced with the "seat occupied recognition repair kit"

• Seat belt system including child seat anchors
• If a passenger airbag is replaced, check if an additional ground cable must be routed in the vehicle, it is necessary in some cases.

If needed (visual inspection), the following must also be replaced: all faulty SRS components
