DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

WARNING:
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, it is recommended that all maintenance and repair be performed by an authorized NISSAN/INFINITIdealer.

1. Turn ignition switch OFF
2. Disconnect 12V battery or batteries
3. Wait at least 3 minutes before performing any service.

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

FOR FRONTAL COLLISION: When SRS is activated in a collision:

• If the driver air bag has deployed: REPLACE Install with new fasteners. [AIRBAG, STEERING WHEEL]
• If the front passenger air bag has deployed: REPLACE Install with new fasteners [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
• If any of the front air bags or seat belt pre-tensioners have deployed: REPLACE the crash zone sensor(s) [AIRBAG,SENSOR,FRONT] and bracket(s) with new fasteners
• Seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies with new fasteners. (All applicable locations: buckle, retractor, lap outer), If any of the seat belt pre-tensioners have been activated: REPLACE all seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies with new fasteners.
• If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the air bag diagnosis sensor unit. Install with new fasteners. [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Steering wheel: If damaged — REPLACE.
• If the driver front air bag has deployed: REPLACE the spiral cable [CLOCK SPRING]
• Occupant classification system (Passenger seat):If damaged — REPLACE seat cushion assembly with new fasteners.[MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Harness and connectors: If damaged — REPLACE the damaged harness. Do not attempt to repair, splice or modify any SRS harness.
• If the passenger front air bag has deployed: REPLACE the instrument panel assembly. (integrated type)
• If the left knee air bag has deployed: REPLACE the left knee air bag module. Install with new fasteners. [AIRBAG,KNEE BOLSTER]
• If the right knee air bag has deployed:REPLACE the right knee air bag module. Install with new fasteners. [AIRBAG,KNEE BOLSTER]

For Side and Rollover Collision:

• If the side curtain air bag LH has deployed: REPLACE the side curtain air bag module LH. Install with new fasteners. [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• If the side curtain air bag RH has deployed: REPLACE the side curtain air bag module RH. Install with new fasteners. [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• If the front side air bag LH has deployed: REPLACE front seatback assembly LH. [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
• If the front side air bag RH has deployed: REPLACE front seatback assembly RH. [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
• If the rear side air bag LH has deployed: REPLACE rear seat bolster LH. [BOLSTER,SEAT]
• If the rear side air bag RH has deployed: REPLACE rear seat bolster RH. [BOLSTER,SEAT]
• If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the side air bag (satellite) sensor on the collision side with new fasteners [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the rear side air bag satellite sensor on the collision side with new fasteners. [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
•If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the front door satellite sensor on the collision side with new fasteners. [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRT DOOR]
• If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the air bag diagnosis sensor unit with new fasteners [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• If any of the seat belt pre-tensioners• has been activated: REPLACE all seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies with new fasteners.
• If either the front LH or front RH side air bag modules has been deployed: REPLACE front seatback assembly on the deployed side.
• Trim/headlining:If damaged — REPLACE the damaged trim parts.
• If the door-mounted curtain air bag module LH has been deployed: REPLACE the door finisher LH and door-mounted curtain air bag module.Install with new fasteners.
• If the door-mounted curtain air bag module RH has been deployed: REPLACE the door finisher RH and door-mounted curtain air bag module. Install with new fasteners.
• Occupant classification system (Passenger seat): If damaged — REPLACE seat cushion assembly with new fasteners.
• Pop-up roll bar assemblies: If damaged — REPLACE seat cushion assembly with new fasteners.

•Replace any seat belt assembly (including anchor bolts) if:
•The seat belt was in use at the time of a collision (except for minor collisions and the belts, retractors and buckles showno damage and continue to operate properly).
•The seat belt was damaged in an accident (i.e. torn webbing, bent retractor or guide, etc.).
•The seat belt attaching point is damaged in an accident. Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or distortion andrepair if necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly.
•Anchor bolts are deformed or worn out.
•The seat belt pre-tensioner should be replaced even if the seat belts are not in use during the collision in which the airbags are deployed.
•Seat belt pretensioners activate whenever an air bag deploys and cannot be reused. If an air bag deploys, always replace theseat belt assemblies and system components including webbing, retractors, buckles, anchors and attaching hardware, even ifthe seat belts were not in use during a collision.

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

Replace any SRS components and the related parts showing visible signs of damage (dents, cracks, deformation).

SRS INSPECTION (FOR FRONTAL COLLISION)

• Non-deployed airbags
• Driver air bag module
• Front passenger air bag module
• Crash zone sensor
• Seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies
(All applicable locations: buckle,
retractor, lap outer)
• Air bag diagnosis sensor unit
• Steering wheel
• Spiral cable
• Occupant classification system (Passenger seat)
• Harness and connectors
• Instrument panel assembly, if the passenger front air bag has NOT deployed
• Left knee air bag module
• Right knee air bag module

SRS INSPECTION (FOR SIDE AND ROLLOVER COLLISION)

• Non-deployed airbags
• Side curtain air bag module LH
• Side curtain air bag module RH
• Front side air bag module LH
• Front side air bag module RH
• Rear side air bag module LH
• Rear side air bag module RH
• Front side air bag satellite sensor (LH or RH)
• Rear side air bag satellite sensor (LH or RH)
• Door satellite sensor (LH or RH)
• Air bag diagnosis sensor unit
• Seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies (All applicable locations: buckle, retractor, lap outer)
• Seat (with front side air bag)
• Center inner pillar (Check the center inner pillar on the collision side for damage (dents, cracks, deformation, etc.).)
• Trim/headlining
• Door-mounted curtain air bag module LH
• Door-mounted curtain air bag module RH
• Occupant classification system (Passenger seat)
• Pop-up roll bar

• NISSAN/INFINITI recommends that all seat belt assemblies and buckles in use during a collision be replaced unless the collisionwas minor and all seat belt system components including the seat belt webbing, retractors, pretensioners, buckles, anchors, and attachinghardware show no damage and continue to operate properly.

•Inspect all seat belt assemblies and components including webbing, retractors, buckles, anchors and attaching hardware notin use during a collision. Replace if either damage or improper operation is noted.
•Seat belt pretensioners activate whenever an air bag deploys and cannot be reused. If an air bag deploys, always replace theseat belt assemblies and system components including webbing, retractors, buckles, anchors and attaching hardware, even ifthe seat belts were not in use during a collision.
•Failure to follow any of the above steps could result in serious personal injury in an accident.

•Replace any seat belt assembly (including anchor bolts) if:
