DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
Before doing any SRS repairs, check the DTCs for the less obvious deployed components (seat belt tensioners, front impact sensors, side airbag sensors, etc.).Make sure you have the anti-theft code(s) for the audio system and/or the audio-navigation system (if equipped).
Before disconnecting the SRS unit connectors, always disconnect the appropriate SRS parts connectors.
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0), or the vehicle ignition in the OFF mode.
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery.
3. Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
Note: Always install the SRS unit, all impact sensors, the rear safing sensor and the drivers front airbag securely with new TORX bolts. Additionally a replacement side seat airbag would require new mounting nuts and when servicing the passenger's front airbag, replace the mounting bolts with new ones. After a collision where the seat belt tensioners deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Front seat belt(s)
• If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the front seat belt protector with a new one.
• Front impact sensor(s) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
After a collision where the front airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed front airbag(s) [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL; AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
• Front seat belt(s)
• If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the front seat belt protector with a new one.
• Front impact sensor(s) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• Dashboard (deployed front passenger's airbag)
After a collision where the side airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed side airbag(s) [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT; AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
• Airbag attachment wire [deployed airbag]
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) for the side(s) that deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) for the side(s) that deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• B-pillar lower trim
• Seat frame and related parts [with deployed seat airbag]
• If the seat-back cover/pad is split, it must be replaced [with deployed seat airbag]
• Front seat belt(s)
After a collision where a side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed side curtain airbag(s) [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• Front seat belt(s)
• If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the front seat belt protector with a new one.
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) for the side(s) that deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) for the side(s) that deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• Rear safing sensor [AIRBAG SENSOR,INTERIOR]
• Roof trim/ Headliner
• A pillar trim
• B pillar trim
• C-pillar trim
• Front grab handle
• Rear grab handle
• All related trim clips
• Sunvisor
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
• Before doing any SRS repairs, Check for DTCs with the HDS for the less obvious deployed components (front seat belt tensioners, front impact sensors, side impact sensors, rear safing sensor).• Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, do not repair, any damaged harnesses
• Do not replace the ODS unit unless it is physically damaged or a specific fault was found during DTC troubleshooting because it could complicate troubleshooting other DTCs.
• After a vehicle collision, do the ODS unit operation check
• After a vehicle collision, inspect the front seat active head restraints
• Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel [CLOCK SPRING]
• Seatbelts and seatbelt mounting points
• Seats and seat mounting points
• After a moderate to severe side or rear collision, inspect for any damage on the side curtain airbag or other related components. If the airbag is frayed, or has any other visible damage, replace it. Do not attempt to repair an airbag. If the clips are stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
• Front Passenger's Weight Sensor inspection procedure
