DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

Before using an electric welder anywhere on the vehicle, disconnect the center airbag sensor assembly connectors. These connectors contain shorting springs. This feature reduces the possibility of the airbag deploying due to current entering the squib wiring.

1. Turn ignition switch to OFF and remove key.
2. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable.
3. Wait at least 90 seconds.

When the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal, the memory settings of each system will be cleared. Because of this, be sure to write down the settings of each system before starting work. When work is finished, reset the settings of each system as before. Never use a backup power supply from outside the vehicle to avoid erasing the memory in a system

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

When any of the airbags have deployed due to the collision, be sure to replace all sensors in the damaged areas and center airbag sensor assembly [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT; AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE; AIRBAG SENSOR,INTERIOR; MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]

With a front airbag deployment:
• Steering wheel mounted Airbag, [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL], [If Deployed]
• Front passenger airbag assembly, [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL], [If Deployed]
• Drivers side Knee Airbag Assy, [If Deployed], [AIRBAG,KNEE BOLSTER], (If Equipped)
• Passenger side Knee Airbag Assy, [AIRBAG,KNEE BOLSTER], [If Deployed], (If Equipped)
• Center airbag sensor assembly, [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• The front airbag sensor on the impacted side should be replaced after the steering pad or front passenger airbag assembly has deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]

With a side airbag deployment:
• Front seat airbag assembly, [AIRBAG & SEAT ASSY,FRT], [If Deployed]
• Center airbag sensor assembly, [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Replace all side airbag sensors in the damaged area (anywhere in need of repair) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Replace all rear airbag sensors in the damaged area (anywhere in need of repair) [AIRBAG SENSOR, INTERIOR]
• The side airbag sensor on the impacted side should be replaced after the front seat side airbag assembly has deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]

With a side curtain airbag deployment:
• Curtain shield airbag assembly, [AIRBAG,ROOF], [If Deployed]
• Center airbag sensor assembly, [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• The side airbag sensor on the impacted side should be replaced after the curtain shield airbag assembly have deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• The rear airbag sensor on the impacted side should be replaced after the curtain shield airbag assembly has deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,INTERIOR]

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

• Steering Pad
• Front Passenger Airbag Assembly
• Front Seat Side Airbag Assembly
• Curtain Shield Airbag Assembly
• Center Airbag Sensor Assembly
• Front Airbag Sensor
• Front Seat Inner Belt Assembly
• Seat Position Sensor
• Occupant Classification ECU
• Side Airbag Sensor
• Rear Airbag Sensor
• Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly


• Steering wheel
• Instrument panel
• Instrument panel reinforcement

• Front pillar garnish
• Roof headlining
• SRS wire harness or connector

• Visually inspect and Replace any airbag sensor in undamaged areas that have registered a major collision or exhibit external damage
